I am very glad I had the opportunity to attend the UCAmI & IWAAL Conference celebrated in the city of Belfast, in UK. It has been a wonderful and enriching experience because I met prestigious researchers such as Jose Bravo, from Castilla-La Mancha University, Chris Nugent, from University of Ulster, Ramon Hervas, Leandro Pecchia, Vladimir Villareal, among many others. Also, I shared knowledge and experiences with young researchers and students from different universities and countries, as well as with PhD students from other states in my own country. On Wednesday, I presented my work entitled “Lessons Learned from a Long-Running Assistive System for Geriatric Care” during the AAL Design and Technical Evaluation session in the IWAAL.
The keynotes, Riitta Hellman, Jesse Hoey and Michael McGrath, presented interesting and relevant topics, related with health, assistive technologies for elders and wearable sensors, which enable rich debates among the audience. The WAGER workshop presented geriatric research done, and the presenters of IWAAL and UCAmI sessions showed recent research done in the state of the art of ambient assistive living and ambient intelligence.
