2024, Jeju, South Korea
The IJCAI-24 conference in Jeju, South Korea, was a fantastic memory for me as a PhD student and a budding researcher. My paper named “Agentive Permissions in Multiagent Systems” was accepted by the main track of the conference, which was the first motivation for attending the cross-continental conference in person. Indeed, I perceived much more than I had expected from the conference. Many thanks to ACM-W and Google for supporting my trip there.
The most exciting part of my experience was the oral and poster presentation of my accepted paper. I had a smooth presentation there and several experts from the same or related research field came to my presentation. I had in-depth discussions with them afterwards and learned about their most recent ideas and unpublished works.
Besides my presentation, I had the chance to attend a variety of sessions, each one offering new perspectives and ideas. The networking opportunities were invaluable as well, allowing me to connect with peers and leaders in similar research fields, discuss potential collaborations, and gain insights into emerging trends. The Doctoral Consortium track was the most helpful one. Besides introducing the contents of the speakers’ research, this track offered useful suggestions and guidance for PhD students in terms of both research and career. I also got a chance to exchange opinions directly with other outstanding PhD students from all over the world. Moreover, the invited talk by Prof Michael Wooldridge was wonderful.
Last but not least, the experience of serving as a conference volunteer was invaluable, as I had the opportunity to learn about the organisation of a large international conference and make some new peer friends during the tasks.
