Attended Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW 2015)
2015, Vancouver, Canada
The ACM-W Grant enabled me to attend the ACM conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW) 2015 in Vancouver, BC. I was able to present my recent research results to a wonderful research community and was able to get valuable feedback and connect to researchers with similar interests and interesting future research and collaboration ideas. Receiving all this positive feedback and new ideas was an empowering and engaging experience. Having the opportunity to attending this conference and presenting my work to this community was an extremely important experience, which will influence my future research steps.
CSCW was a very new experience for me. Compared to traditional computer science conferences, CSCW connects a wide variety of different research fields and communities interested in the area of social computing and addresses both social and technical challenges. Getting research insights and inspirations from researchers from so many different disciplines including Computer Science, Psychology, and Sociology was a key element I got from this conference.
