Attending SIGGRAPH 2024 has been the best experience of my entire college career. I got to speak with legends in the field of Computer Graphics whom I really admire like Steve May, Cem Yuksel, and Rachel Rose. Having dinner and lunch with people working in technical fields in the animation and VFX industries was an eye-opening experience. The production sessions really helped me get a glimpse into how VFX and Animation Studios solve niche problems for specific films. The courses were a helpful introduction to Computer Graphics technologies. It was amazing to visit the exhibition booths and see new CG features and emerging technologies that companies and individuals are developing. Attending the social mixers and talking to a host of people really opened my eyes to the wide range of technical roles that exist with the Computer Graphics Industry. I also got to do interviews with recruiters. My resume was selected to be presented at the “How to get your resume and reel noticed” Birds of a Feather session, which made me feel amazing. Overall, I was able to expand my network a lot, and have a much clearer sense of what direction makes more sense for me in CG.
