Attended International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA23)
2023, L'Aquila, Italy
My journey for ICSA 2023 started in 2020. I received the ACM-W Scholarship to attend ICSA 2020 in Salvador, Brazil. However, all the events went virtual due to the pandemic – with the uncertainty if they could be celebrated in-person again anytime. 3 years passed, and I finally could go to L’Aquila, Italy. Apart from the main conference, I joined some co-located workshops as well. The in-person experience was utterly different from the online one. Although some presentations also happened online, the discussions had an extra intensity. See the authors ready to answer the questions, an open mic, and the interaction reassured my research interest, especially in the human aspects of software engineering. It should be highlighted that I presented a paper at the technical track that was one of the candidates for the Best Paper Award although it finally did not win. Moreover, I had the opportunity to be a student volunteer and meet other students and researchers from different countries. We spend a great time talking about our research topics and about our countries and cultures, enjoying our things in common and making of our differences something enriching. I also had the opportunity to sit next to David Garlan, one of the parents of the field of Software Architecture, and to have some insightful conversations with him during the gala dinner. In addition, I had the chance to spend some days together with me dear supervisor in a different context out of the university. And, of course, I enjoyed L’Aquila very much. It is a lovely city, not only because there is a Spanish castle with a mammoth inside. Attending ICSA was an amazing experience that I would love to repeat every year.
