At the ACM-W communications committee, we are happy to share updates on our ongoing and upcoming initiatives to support, celebrate, and advocate for women in computing. Whether you’re a student, early career professional, or established leader, we hope you will find inspiration in our stories and respond to our calls for action.

Continuing with “Celebrating Technology Leaders”

We’re excited to continue our popular Celebrating Technology Leaders webinar series! These hour-long conversations feature inspiring stories of successful technical women and non-binary persons leading diverse careers in technology.

These sessions provide career coaching and leadership advice tailored to students and early-career professionals through lively storytelling. We aim to inform our audience about the many career paths available in technology, helping them take educated next steps in their professional journeys.

Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming sessions—there’s always something to learn from these extraordinary leaders!

Restarting the “Above and Beyond” Blog Series

We’re bringing back the Above and Beyond blog series! This series brings our historical scholarship data to light since the scholarship program started in 2006. Through interviews with past scholars, we will explore the impact of these scholarships on their educational journeys and career trajectories.

These stories will celebrate the successes of our scholars while demonstrating the tangible benefits of ACM-W scholarships for advancing women in computing. Keep an eye out for these inspiring narratives!

A New Initiative: Professional Chapter Tours

We’re thrilled to introduce a new section in the ACM-W newsletter, led by Asegul Hulus, an investigative journalist and a member of the newly formed Professional Chapters Committee.

Asegul will take us on a global journey, visiting each ACM-W Professional Chapter. As your friendly tour guide, she’ll spotlight these chapters’ incredible work to support, celebrate, and advocate for women in computing.

Find the first stop on this global tour in this issue—don’t miss it!

Highlighting Gender Studies in Computing

You may have noticed a recent focus on gender studies in computer science within our newsletter. We’re committed to showcasing this critical area of work, as it is aligned with ACM-W’s mission of celebrating women in computing.  Therefore, we will continue collaborating with authors to highlight impactful research and initiatives.

Do you have ideas for other articles—beyond research—that you’d like to see featured? We’d love to hear from you!
