Welcome to the New ACM-W Co-Chairs!
We are delighted to welcome Bushra Anjum and Rukiye Altin, two exceptional women, as our Co-Chair(s) of ACM-W. Both women, no strangers to ACM-W, bring a wealth of experience to the team, and their collaborative effort will support ongoing and new initiatives in ACM-W.
Bushra Anjum, Ph.D., serves as the Head of Data Science and AI/LLM subject matter expert at the EdTech startup NoRedInk. In this role, she leads a team of analysts, scientists, and engineers to develop adaptive online curriculum tools designed to enhance writing and critical thinking skills for students in grades 3-12. Previously, she worked as the Director of Data Science at Doximity, a HealthTech company, developing HIPAA-secure data tools for U.S. clinicians. Dr. Anjum’s expertise lies in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, GenAI tooling, and distributed systems engineering. She is a former Fulbright scholar from Pakistan and has held academic positions in both Pakistan and the USA. In her volunteer capacity, she serves as a senior editor for the ACM Ubiquity e-magazine, a member of the ACM-Women global leadership team, and a speaker at various events. Dr. Anjum has been honored as a Top 20 Under 40 Professional by Tribune and as a nominee for Volunteer Woman of the Year 2021 by SLO County. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.
Rukiye is a Postdoc Researcher at Kiel University, Germany. Her research interests include computer science education, computational thinking, information ethics, and educational technology. She has been volunteering for ACM-W since 2007 and was the past ACM-W Europe Chair. Rukiye has a strong passion for gender equality in informatics and is actively involved in projects related to diversity in informatics, volunteering to spread the work of ACM-W to other regions. Rukiye is a member of ACM, ACM SIGCSE, and CSTA.
We look forward to working under the leadership of Bushra and Rukiye. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ruth (Lennon) again for her leadership in the past year.
