Participating in SIGIR 2024 is a significant milestone in my academic journey, especially as a bachelor’s student aspiring to pursue graduate studies in machine learning and its applications. It was incredible to have the opportunity to present our short paper, titled “Instruction-Guided Bullet Point Summarization of Long Financial Earnings Call Transcripts,” during the poster session. This work was co-authored during my summer internship at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
Traveling to Washington, D.C., and presenting our research would not have been possible without the support of the ACM-W scholarship. I am deeply grateful to my supervisor and ACM-W for making this possibility a reality.
The experience of meeting and interacting with eminent researchers and professors from around the world was truly inspiring. Listening to the enriching talks and keynote speeches further solidified my determination to pursue a career in research. I cherish every moment spent at the conference, and this experience has renewed my commitment to working towards my goals.
