Now Recruiting: Website Editors
The ACM-W Communications Committee is seeking a volunteer to maintain the ACM-W website (women.acm.org). The successful candidate will work directly with the ACM-W Communications Chairs to edit, update, and maintain content on our website.
This is a volunteer, remote, part-time position, requiring 5-10 hours a month, for a two-year term. ACM-W is a non-profit organization, administered entirely by volunteers. We are looking for a passionate and experienced website editor who can respond to technical issues as they arise to ensure the ACM-W community’s continued secure access to ACM-W news, scholarships and award opportunities, professional development activities, and other items of interest. In doing so, you’ll have the chance to directly impact the ACM-W global community of 70,000+ members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the website editor is to ensure a stable and up-to-date website for our members. It is expected that the website editor will spend approximately 5-10 hours a month working on the website, and attend meetings once a month with the ACM-W Communications Committee.
The website editor’s regular tasks may include curating website content in collaboration with the ACM-W Executive Team, designing new website pages, updating out-of-date information, and developing and/or maintaining custom code for how we present content on our website. They will also be responsible for basic website administration tasks, such as regular software and plugin updates. These tasks are handled primarily in our WordPress dashboard and a separate web hosting platform.
SKILLS
The successful applicant will have experience with the following:
- Web development – our website has custom plugins built in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and/or PHP.
- Basic website administration knowledge
- WordPress or other visual website editors
- Professional communication in English
