ACM-W Professional Chapters: Spotlight on Ohio’s Toledo ACM-W Professional Chapter

We are pleased to announce the formation of the Toledo ACM-W Professional Chapter. This northwest Ohio chapter was chartered on May 21st and has already started partnering with the ACM-W student chapters at University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University and with area IT businesses leaders.
Chair Janell Vickers (Mercy Health) explained that the idea for a professional chapter started at a Tech Toledo networking event last year: “We found each other at a Women in Computing roundtable led by faculty members from the University of Findlay and Baldwin Wallace University and the rest is history. I am excited to work with like-minded men and women who want to progress the working and learning environments for women in computing.” They look forward to exchanging ideas and working with the OCWiC ACM-W Professional Chapter and hope other ACM-W professional chapters will continue to form around the state. Organizational meetings are scheduled throughout the summer.
