Cindy Tucker is a Professor of Computer and Information Technologies at Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) in Lexington, KY. After many years as a software engineer, she began teaching at Midway College, Kentucky’s only women’s college, in 1999 and accepted her current teaching position at BCTC in 2007. She teaches secure software development courses using Java and Android and teaches dual credit courses for high school juniors and seniors enrolled in BCTC’s Informatics Academy. She has a strong interest in encouraging and supporting women and girls in computing and does community outreach in computing education at the K-12 level. She is a recipient of the Carnegie Foundation Advancement of Teaching – Kentucky Professor of the Year award and the Carolyn Beam Outstanding BCTC Faculty award. She is Vice Chair of the ACM Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges (CCECC) and co-coordinator of the ACM Kentucky Community Colleges Women in Computing (KYCC-WiC) celebration. She is faculty sponsor for BCTC’s local ACM-W student chapter. She is currently serving as the Chair of the ACM-W Community College Committee.
