ACM has been expanding internationally with the formation of the ACM China, ACM Europe, and ACM India Councils. We have also seen the formation of ACM-W Europe and ACM-W India which work in their regions to carry out the ACM-W mission to support, celebrate and advocate for women in computing. They do this through planning celebrations of women in computing, promoting the formation of ACM-W chapters, publicizing the ACM-W scholarship program, and developing additional local activities.
You can learn more about their work: ACM-W Europe, ACM-W India
The first ACM-W Europe celebration of women in computing, womENcourage, was held March 1, 2014, in Manchester, UK. The second event was held in September, 2015, in Uppsala, Sweden. Check out womENcourage 2015.
We are also delighted that ArabWIC, the Arab Women in Computing organization, is affiliating with ACM-W. You can learn more about ArabWIC here. The most recent ArabWIC conference was April 30 – May 1, 2015, in Abu Dhabi.
In November, 2015, we were a sponsor of Latinity, the first Latin American Women in Technology conference.
In December, 2015, we participated in the Ada Lovelace Symposium, Oxford, UK, that celebrated her 200th birthday.
In April, 2016, we will be a sponsor of the conference of the European Centre for Women in Technology (ECWT).
