Gayatri Buragohain - Ambassador, India

Gayatri Buragohain founded Feminist Approach to Technology (FAT) in 2007 in the belief that effective  empowerment of women comes through technology education. FAT combines her extensive technological background with her passion for female empowerment.

In May 2009, she also started Joint Leap Technologies, a for-profit company that forms a social hybrid with FAT, with a goal of making FAT a self-sustainable social enterprise. Her technical experience includes several years in website development in the private sector as well as with non-profits.

n 2010, she was awarded the Anita Borg Institute's Change Agent Award. She also received Anita Borg Institute's Systers Pass it On Award twice, in 2008 and 2010. Gayatri is a sought-after point person in the field of women in technology, with interviews appearing internationally and speaking appointments at conferences throughout India. She has also conducted many training sessions on various topics ranging from basic computer education to website development using content management systems. She is also a gender trainer and has facilitated many workshops on gender sensitization and sexual harassment in the workplace.

Gayatri has a B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunications from Assam Engineering College.
