Mary Anne Egan - Ambassador, USA
Mary Anne Egan received a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Siena College in 1986 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1991 and 1997, respectively.
Mary Anne is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Siena College, Loudonville, New York. She is the chair of the Clare Booth Luce Scholarship Committee which generously funds promising female students during their Junior and Senior years of college. She also advises the campus ACM-W student chapter.
Mary Anne's main area of research is inclusion in computer science education covering both gender and accessibility issues. She has developed a programming contest alternative that provides a forum for talented high school students to learn more about computer science while having fun. She is also involved in another avenue of recruitment and retention: ensuring that the first-year programming experience at Siena is inviting and engaging for all students.
