Mary Anne Egan received a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Siena College
in 1986 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute in 1991 and 1997 respectively.
Dr. Egan is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Siena College,
Loudonville, NY. She is the chair of the Clare Booth Luce Scholarship
Committee which generously funds promising female students during their
Junior and Senior years of college. She also advises the campus ACM-W
student chapter.
Dr. Egan's main area of research is inclusion in computer science
education covering both gender and accessibility issues. She has
developed a programming contest alternative providing a forum for
talented high school students to learn more about computer science while
having fun. Additionally, she is also involved in another avenue of
recruitment and retention by ensuring that the first year programming
experience at Siena is inviting and engaging for all students.
