Tracy Camp received a B.A. degree in Mathematics from Kalamazoo College in 1987, an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Michigan State University in 1989, and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from The College of William and Mary in 1993.

Dr. Camp is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the Colorado School of Mines. Her main field of research is in the area of mobile computing and networking; her research group is called "The Toilers".

She is, currently, the PI of three grants and a co-PI of two grants totalling approximately 1.5 million dollars in federal funding. In addition, Dr. Camp is the co-author of an educational toolkit that has been used at more than 60 universities in 25 countries. Lastly, Dr. Camp was the co-chair of the Association for Computing Machinery Committee on Women in Computing from 1998 to 2002; she has appeared in over 15 newspaper/magazine articles for her work on this Committee, including the N.Y. Times, the Chicago Tribune, and Scientific American.
